When Clarity Healthcare, Melbourne Psychologists, engaged us to design their new Malvern clinic, it was an opportunity to build on an existing partnership. Having previously delivered their Fitzroy clinic, we understood their vision and values, and were pleased to help bring them to life once more in a new setting.
Their brief was clear: create a space that felt safe, welcoming, and anything but clinical. They wanted a healthcare fitout where staff and clients alike could truly relax- somewhere that felt more like home than a medical practice. Privacy, warmth, and comfort were essential, along with subtle touches that would make people feel cared for from the moment they stepped inside.
The new 186m² fitout needed to deliver a lot in a relatively compact footprint: 11 consult rooms, two waiting areas, a family room, reception with sit/stand desks, and a staff breakout space. To make that work without sacrificing the feeling of space or calm, the design focused on flow, colour, and thoughtful details.
We opted for a bespoke, residential-inspired look with lush green feature walls and dark terrazzo-look flooring to set a warm, grounded tone. Carefully chosen, vibrant artwork was placed throughout like a private gallery, offering moments of colour and inspiration while softening the atmosphere. Curved details in furniture and flooring added to the relaxed, approachable feel, encouraging people to move through the space with ease.
Acoustics were a top priority to ensure sensitive conversations stayed private. We used Autex Groove acoustic panelling in the consult rooms and family room and balanced exposed ceilings in shared areas with plasterboard in consult zones to manage sound effectively. Cosy, eclectic furniture and homeware-style styling made the space feel personal and lived-in, not clinical or cold.
The result is a clinic that genuinely reflects Clarity Healthcare’s mission of care, approachability, and genuine connection. It’s a healthcare fitout designed to make everyone feel at ease- somewhere that says, from the very first moment, you’re in good hands.
