Paratus Clinical’s First Victorian Site, Delivered with Precision
Paratus Clinical engaged Concept Health to design and deliver their first clinical trials clinic in Victoria. Already operating across New South Wales, Paratus needed the new space to reflect their brand, support clinical excellence, and set the tone for future expansion.
The brief was to create a dual-purpose facility that could support both general medical trials and psychiatric care, with centralised shared amenities such as labs and interview rooms for efficiency. The fitout also needed to feel calm and professional, reflecting the integrity of the work happening inside.
Design That Supports Function and Flow
The layout balances operational needs with thoughtful spatial planning. It includes:
- A welcoming reception with a natural timber slat feature wall
- Dedicated psychiatry and general medicine zones
- Three private psychedelic therapy rooms
- A dry lab and a smaller wet lab for blood processing
- General consulting rooms, interview rooms, and staff offices
- A meeting room for up to eight people
Every element was designed with patient experience and clinical performance in mind. Zoning was critical, and when early planning layouts didn’t align with the base build, we reconfigured the design to make the most of the site—bringing interview rooms to the north and placing consulting areas closer to natural light and the balcony.
A Calm, Cohesive Interior
To match existing sites in NSW, we used a soft, neutral palette with light timbers, white laminates, and gentle greys—creating a fresh, open feel. The existing carpet was retained, so material transitions were handled with care to maintain visual cohesion. A worn ceiling was refreshed during construction to ensure a crisp, professional finish across the tenancy.
The result is a clinic that feels calm, clinical, and considered—designed to support staff and put patients at ease.
Built for Now and What’s Next
This Northcote clinic not only meets the immediate needs of Paratus Clinical’s Victorian operations, but also sets a benchmark for future clinics around the country. It’s a space that reflects the brand’s values, supports complex research and care, and demonstrates how smart healthcare design can drive better outcomes.
